about me

As a shy little girl, I found connection by performing dance routines, filming myself baking, and
recording talk shows. I have always had a passion for the entertainment industry without really
knowing it.

One day after school, I was home alone in my living room. I sat there trying to remember the
name of the singer my mom had shown me as a little girl. Somehow, in some way, I found the
song she always used to play, “Amor Prohibido” by Selena Quintanilla. As I saw the music video
again that day, I saw myself in Selena. I felt represented by someone in the media and I began
listening to all of her songs and watching all of her interviews. I admired not only her music, but
her humbleness, desire to represent her community, and her desire to give back. I then made a
click that changed my life, “Selena LIVE! The Last Concert.”

I saw Selena on that stage at the Houston Astrodome and something inside me told me to
dance along. Suddenly I found myself singing using the TV remote as a microphone. I felt a
freedom and joy that was so pure, something I hadn’t felt in such a particular way. I felt like
Brianna. Every day after that, I put that concert on after school and I sang along. I looked
forward to being home alone just so I could sing without anyone listening. I started taking vocal
lessons later that year and performed at my very first recital.

I am my most authentic self on stage. I tap into the emotions of the pieces I’m singing and
connect with the audience. I sing to represent my community, especially Latinos like me who
were born in the U.S. I grew up speaking Spanish and English, and different genres. My family
always used to tell me to write my own songs and when I finally took that step I fell in love with
songwriting. My songs are a way to express myself, collaborate with others, and mark moments
in my life. I am currently working on my first EP and I’m so proud of the moments I’ve been able
to capture. I combine R&B, Pop, Cumbia, and Reggaeton on this EP representing my
Colombian, Puerto Rican, and NY roots.

I’m currently in my senior year at Berklee College of Music where I’m proud to be a recipient of
the Thrive Scholarship. I’ve learned so much in being in an environment full of music. I’ve
collaborated with my peers and learned about songwriting, production, and performance. I’ve
learned so much about myself along the way and how I want to represent myself as an artist.
My goal is to be a recording artist who represents first-generation Latinos. I want my music to be
heard in the U.S. but also in Latin America.
